ABSTRACT

   Typhoid fever (TF) is an acute systemic infection caused by Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B. It is transmitted by the fecal oral route mainly via contaminated food and water. The developing countries have high rate of morbidity and mortality due to Typhoid fever, epidemics take place in developed world also. There are increased incidences of multi drug resistant in S. typhi strains that has further complicated its management and only a few antibiotics are now effective in treatment of typhoid. We report that the aqueous extracts of fruit peel Citrus sinensis (L.) confer anti typhoid activity against Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B respectively on comparison with ciprofloxacin.

ABSTRACT
  
Literature revealed that vast majority of benzothiazoles  compounds are known to possess pharmacologically proven therapeutic potentials. Though extensive research work is reported on benzothiazoles, reactively very little is known so for about fluorobenzothiazole Shiff’s bases with fluorine1 at 6th position.The reaction of 6- fluro-7-chloroaniline with potassium thiocynate (KSCN) in presence of bromine and glacial acetic acid and ammonia to get 2-amino 6- fluro-7-chloro(1,3) benzothiazoles2-5 (1) which was further treated with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde  refluxed in ethanol to obtained  6-fluoro-7-chloro benzothiazole Schiff’s base, which was treated with variety of aromatic anilines in presence of DMF to yield different derivatives (E1-E9). Purity of compounds was checked by TLC. Melting points were determined by open capillaries method and uncorrected. IR spectra (NaCl) are recorded on FTIR (Schimadzu-84005) spectrophotometer using nujol mull technique. 1HNMR spectra are recorded on a spectrophotometer (Bruker AMX) at 500MHz, using TMS as internal reference.LCMS was carried out to get exact molecular weight. Ibuprofen were used as standard reference anti-inflammatory drug.
