ABSTRACT

   Typhoid fever (TF) is an acute systemic infection caused by Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B. It is transmitted by the fecal oral route mainly via contaminated food and water. The developing countries have high rate of morbidity and mortality due to Typhoid fever, epidemics take place in developed world also. There are increased incidences of multi drug resistant in S. typhi strains that has further complicated its management and only a few antibiotics are now effective in treatment of typhoid. We report that the aqueous extracts of fruit peel Citrus sinensis (L.) confer anti typhoid activity against Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B respectively on comparison with ciprofloxacin.

ABSTRACT
  
In present study, a successful attempt has been made to develop a simple method for the simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and tinidazole using Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) technique. Quantification of norfloxacin and tinidazole was done in Britton-Robinson Buffer of pH 6.5 using 0.1M KCl as a supporting electrolye. Both norfloxacin and tinidazole exhibit reduction cathodic peak in given pH with peak potential at -1.40V for norfloxacin and -0.48V for tinidazole vs. S.C.E. 0.1N HCl was used as Solvent for the analysis. The parameters used for the method validation are linearity, accuracy, precision, robustness, ruggudness, LOD and LOQ. Proposed method was found to be simple, precise, and accurate and can be successfully applied for routine quality control analysis and simultaneous determination of norfloxacin and tinidazole in combined drug formulations.
