Typhoid fever (TF) is an acute systemic infection caused by Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B. It is transmitted by the fecal oral route mainly via contaminated food and water. The developing countries have high rate of morbidity and mortality due to Typhoid fever, epidemics take place in developed world also. There are increased incidences of multi drug resistant in S. typhi strains that has further complicated its management and only a few antibiotics are now effective in treatment of typhoid. We report that the aqueous extracts of fruit peel Citrus sinensis (L.) confer anti typhoid activity against Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Para Typhi A and Salmonella Para Typhi B respectively on comparison with ciprofloxacin.

A sensitive and direct spectrophotometric method is developed for Bicalutamide in their pharmaceutical formulation. The optimum conditions for the analysis of the drug are established. The method permits the determination of Bicalutamide over a concentration range of 4µg/ml to 15/µg/ml. Detection and quantification limit was found to be that 0.01098µg/ml and 0.578µg/ml respectively. The attained results shows that good recoveries of 98.10%, with relative standard deviation of 0.817. All the calibration curve shows a linear relation between the absorbance and concentration with correlation coefficient higher than 0.9996. Precision and Accuracy of the method was established with recovery studies. The proposed method is applicable for the assay of Bicalutamide investigation in dosage form and the results are in good agreement.
