ABSTRACT

  The electrochemical reduction behavior of nitrendipine has been studied over a wide range of pH and concentrations at a mercury electrode (DME/HMDE) by employing d.c.polarography, cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse polarography techniques. The current is diffusion controlled and proportional to the concentration in the rage 1.010-9 M. The detection limit is 1.9210-9 M with the relative standard deviation of 1.34%. The proposed method is simple and accurate and does not involve time consuming, separation of the drug from insoluble constituents present in the sample. Kinetic parameters such as transfer coeffients, diffusion coefficients and heterogeneous forward rate constant values were evaluated using this techniques. Differential pulse polarography is used for the quantitative measurements of the drug in pharmaceutical formulations and some urine samples.
